Two Balls

Postby Malcolmp » Mon Apr 25, 2011 7:41 pm

I just downloaded the latest demo, but when I run it I see two balls, a yellow and a purple ball close behind it.

I'm running on a 3GHz Pentium 4 with 1GB of memory, and an ATI Radeon 2400 with 256MB.

My graphic settings are:

- 1280x1024x60Hzx32b
- full screen
- No shaders
- Enhanced shadows disabled
- Anti-alias: disabled
- VBO disabled
- No ball trace

Can you help?

Probably a problem with your OpenGL driver. Could you make a screenshot ?

I have no idea how this could happen. You can try updating your graphics driver or contacting ATI support.

I have updated to the latest video drivers with no effect, and I contacted ATI. They have no explanation for this problem.

It's a shame as I was looking for a good tennis game to purchase.

Don't blame me. I am probably even more sorry than you, but even if they have no explanation, the fact that the game works correctly on most computers, but not yours, makes it pretty much certain that it has something to do with their drivers. I don't even know how I could make purple appear in the ball's motion blur like it shows on your screenshot.

As a software engineer myself, I tend to agree with you. My guess is that the card is old enough that ATI are not interested in fixing any problems with its drivers. If I ever get a new PC, I'll certainly try your game again.

What I could do is add a setting to deactivate the ball motion blur. In most cases, I believe that is certainly less pleasing to the eye ; but in your case, it's probably better.

Thank you. I'd be willing to try a demo with that feature, and let you now what happens.

I'll make this option available in the next version, so stay tuned (hopefully this week or next one).
