Question on database shot ratings

I assumed the character I created for myself would play as well as I can master the controls.
As I climb the learning curve I will improve my abilities. Does it matter what numbers are
entered into the database for my character? ie, do they have any effect on my ability to beat opponents?
Thank you! :D

Yes, they have. In every shot you attempt the outcome is weighed by your character's abilities.

Acceleration means how quickly the character's speed increases when moving.
Reaction means how fast the character can react to events (such as the opponent's shot). This parameter is only used for AIs as of now. For the player, it's his own speed of reaction that counts.
