Career Mode Question

Hello, I am very new to this game so bare with me. I created a player ranked 1955 in the world. Then I started career mode as that player. I am now 9 weeks in and I have yet to play a tournament. Is there something I need to do to be allowed to player in tournaments? Is there someway I can schedule myself to play? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

You should scroll the calendar to the right to make smaller tournaments appear and use the QUALIFY or COMPETE button to enter a tournament.
