Too bright against Sun in outdoor courts?

Postby Mayday » Sat May 21, 2011 3:51 am

Just bought the full game and enjoying it. :)

Anyone think it's way too bright against Sun in outdoor courts? Can we just turn off this effect?

Edit: Looks normal on the other side of the court. I know the dev might be going for the "sun in the eyes" effect, but it's a little too much on my system - XP SP3, GTX285.

Can you post a screenshot ? Even better, could you also post an actual picture of the screen to compare ?

Hi kschoice,

Here are the screen shots (resized and converted to jpg). See attachements.
TAce_Normal.jpg
TAce_Sun.jpg => this is the bright one
Both screen shots taken from the same game instance.

The bright sun makes it really hard to see the ball, especailly against the light blue court.

Edit: Screens are from latest version downloaded today (3.3.1), Default Video Settings (all options enabled)

I'm not sure if this effect happens to other camera views. Will need to check. Update: The sun effect is the same in other views as well. I just notice the depth hint line as well, neat. (Should help with AI drop shot and general positioning.)

The more I play, the more I wish the extra brightness against the sun can be turned off.
Was this "handicap" on which side of the court choosen a game "feature"?

Yes, that was thought as a feature of the game.I'll think of a setting to alter it.

Yes. I agree. There is one court that is close to Doha schedule that I avoid, because it is too bright! I play well, but not on that court! ( = Don't get me wrong, I do light the sun on the court, but I do not think any player in real life play on a blinding court like that! Haha.

Thank you. I'm trying to play in medium view instead of close view for now. It's not as bad when the camera is adjusted higher where you can better track the ball.

I'm glad that the game is set to the hardest level by default. It's much more interesting. Still trying to figure out the timing for volley. Fun!

I'm glad you are enjoying the game. Try not to play in one set way. That is the key to strong groundstrokes and vollys!

I would agree with this post kschoice. I like how you are trying to emulate the glare of the sun but I think it needs to be toned down alot.

Yeah. I don't know of any professional ITF court that looks that way, let alone any court! It seems as if the sun's rays is coming from the ground. ( = I am sure kschoice will fix it for us. Question. I have not played the game for some time. I will ask kschoice about the latest full version update. The challenge system peaked my interest, but I remember the sun glare situation as well. Hope this is fixed soon. !

That's good. I am sure that kschoice would want to know if anything changes. Enjoy the game!

I have very sensitive eyes and have the same issue. I just turn the brightness down on my monitor.
