Contoller settings

Sorry for a dumb question guys:
I could not master the keyboard for playing, so I bought a sony ps2 controller
with adaptor. I am able to change settings from keyboard to controller, but I am
not sure I am making the best choices. (never played playstation or xbox before )
What about the knob that moves in all directions? Seems like I should be using that
for something?

There are no dumb questions, only good answers
To move you either use the left knob or the four arrows. It is only a matter of feeling. Choose the one you prefer.
As regards the right knob, I don't think it has any use for the game but once again, do whatever you like !

It's better to use the left knob for left/up/right/down however, as it gives you analog control when moving/aiming.
You may also want to use R1 and L1 triggers for prepare right/prepare left.
Bind the main stroke keys on triangle/square/circle/cross as you prefer. Lob and dropshot can go on L2 and R2.

You can pick any button. Just configure it in the controls menu.

I have done that with several buttons. Is there a time restraint it must be pushed?

You must push it during the time the challenge icon (the one with the hand) is displayed in the bottom right of the screen.
